Second attempt at PASSJ elections

  • Letters documenting the general body and election procedures have been mailed out to all registered members of PASSJ who are eligible to vote in the upcoming election. To be eligible, you must be a member, in good standing, of PASSJ, as of the end of March, 2008, and your dues must be paid in full.

  • Elections for the office bearers of the executive committee of the Pakistan-American Society of South Jersey will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at 3:00pm, at the Voorhees Township Hall, 101 Dutchtown Road, Voorhees, New Jersey 08043.

    The elections will be held at the conclusion of the general body meeting, between 3:30 to 5:30pm. If the quorum requirements for the general body meeting are not met, the general body meeting and the executive committee elections will be posponed to a later date. The quorum requirement is two-thirds (2/3rd) of the members, as per the by-laws. The new time and place will be communicated should the situation arise.

    The headcount to determine quorum will be taken at 3:30pm sharp. Anybody arriving after 3:30pm will not be counted.

    Either spouse may be present at the general body meeting and will be counted for the quorum requirements. Those present may not, however, cast absentee votes for adult (at least 18 years of age) members of the family who are unable to attend.

  • Elections for the following office bearers of the executive committee of the Pakistan-American Society of South Jersey will be held:
    1. President
    2. Vice-president
    3. General Secretary
    4. Joint Secretary
    5. Treasurer
    6. Member

Membership and election requirements

The following are the eligibility requirements for voting and running for executive committee offices:

  • PASSJ memberships are valid for the duration and renewable in March of any given year.
  • In order to vote in upcoming elections, you must be a member of PASSJ for at least one (1) year. To vote in the 2009 elections, you must have be a member (with paid dues) by March, 2008.
  • In order to be eligible to run for office, you must be a member of PASSJ for at least two (2) years. Specifically, to run for office in the 2009 elections, you must have been a member since March, 2007. Because this was the first time this announcement was made formally, memberships made by November, 2007, were back-dated and considered as having met the 2-year requirement for the 2009 elections.
