We are located in southern New Jersey and are an organization whose primary purpose is to serve the needs of Pakistani-Americans in the region.

Important note regarding the Eid Milan/New Year party

This year, as in the past, PASSJ had intended to host a Eid Milan/New Year party. Toward that end, a location had been booked for Saturday, January 5, 2008. However, PASSJ relinquished the venue in order to host a fundraiser to help the victims of the Bangadleshi cyclone. The event was quite successful and raised over $32,000.

Because of the inavailibility of another suitable venue in a timely fashion, PASSJ -- regretfully -- will not be able to host an Eid Milan party this year.

New developments
Membership and election requirements

The following are the eligibility requirements for voting and running for executive committee offices:

  • PASSJ memberships are valid for the duration and renewable in March of any given year.
  • In order to vote in upcoming elections, you must be a member of PASSJ for at least one (1) year. To vote in the 2009 elections, you must be a member (with paid dues) by March, 2008.
  • In order to be eligible to run for office, you must be a member of PASSJ for at least two (2) years. To run for office in the 2009 elections, you must have been a member since March, 2007. Because this is the first time this announcement has been made, memberships made by November, 2007, will be back-dated and considered as having met the 2-year requirement for the 2009 elections.
